When I was driving on New Zealand's North Island, I encountered an incredible number of roadworks. There were also a lot on the main road from Brisbane to Toowoomba, including the set which meant I had to go back down that big hill. Since then, I've seen hardly any, although the writing on the shoulders shows that there have been many in the past. Here are some though. There's a man with a "STOP/GO" board at each end, and a vehicle which follows each batch of traffic through to confirm that the road is clear before traffic is let through the other way. I was allowed to ride through regardless of what the other traffic was doing.

On the left is the only live kangaroo I've seen in the wild so far. I didn't notice it when I was taking the picture but a few seconds later, it hopped across the road in front of the black vehicle.
