My breakfast was a bit of a fiasco. The man who I assume is the manager of the place got me to fill in an order for it last night, even though it's a cafe where people can just walk in off the street and order things. I handed the order to him personally but when I got here this morning, they had no knowledge of it. Given the size and complexity of this building, it's remarkable how the manager seems to be everywhere. As soon as the staff here said they hadn't seen my order, he walked into the room, made a phone call to somebody and then got me to fill out another one. Then when I tried to pay here, the staff here said that I should pay when I checked out of the motel. That didn't seem likely to me since I have already paid for the room. Sure enough, when I went to check out, the man on reception had no knowledge of the breakfast. I told him how much it was and tried to pay but then he had no change and had to phone somebody else to bring some. I think even that went wrong somehow but as soon as I had paid the right amount, I left.

The thing in the jar on the right is iced chocolate. I didn't really know what that would be; I thought it might be one of those things with crushed ice in it. It's actually cold hot chocolate with ice cream and cream. I wasn't that keen on it. The fry-up was good though: it had avocado in it, and the cereal came with a little pot of berries and a tiny bottle of milk. I wonder if Australians have a stupid made up word for a bottle of milk that size, like they do for less than a pint of beer.
