 To get over this hill, the road climbed about 300 metres and the top part was steep enough that I chose to walk so I was surprised to see that the railway ran alongside the road for most of the way. I did see a couple of locomotives trundling along on their own a while ago so my guess is that they stay on this bit of the track and help to pull trains over the hill.
