 I'm back on the main road now because it's the shortest route to Toowoomba, my destination for tonight, which lies immediately beyond the crest of that ridge. I've been on and off this road a few time in the last day and about half of the distance which I have done on it has been in roadworks. There are more up ahead. If that big scar up the hillside is the roadworks than they look quite serious. It looks like one whole carriageway has been removed. I hope there's still a bit of room for me.
