Airlines which provide bike boxes always seem to make the boxes considerably bigger than the airlines' own specified maximum luggage size. I like to make my bike small enough to fit within the specified size just so that there can't be any arguments abut it, but that then leaves room for it to slide about inside the box. The nice thing about it being this compact though is that it can fit on the back seat of a car.

It would have been nice to have another week or two here so that I could have toured the North Island on the bike. Yesterday would have been a particularly good ride as it wasn't very hilly. One of the things that most made me wish I was still cycling was the ease with which you can arrive here at the airport on a bike. If I had done that, I could have saved some time by only having to dismantle the bike enough to fit in this box.
