 A few years ago, a friend spent a year in New Zealand and reported back that the national dish was the pie. One of the international fast food chains does one and it advertising it as a Kiwi classic. It's not very easy to eat though. You have to take more pastry than filling with each mouthful because the filling is too hot to touch. Then while you're trying to stop the hot beef pouring out of one end, the hot cheese pours out of the other. The drink here is fizzy raspberry. I had never heard of such a thing until just now but something in the Prince song that was playing in the background while I was looking at the drinks machine persuaded me to go for it.
