 It turned out that I had to check my bags in as if for a plane, but keep my bike and wheel it onto the car deck. It was all very easy and the people here were firendly and helpful. I don't know why I expected anything else really. I have now put the new chain on my bike but it's not quite right and the tools for fixing it are in the bag which I've checked in.
