My mother visited Iceland about 10 years ago and has expressed surprise that so far I haven't seen any big pipes running across the landscape. there's one coming down that hillside. Perhaps it's the first of many.

Jöklasel is a place about 900 metres up the mountainside, from where it's possible to venture onto the glacier. The proprietor of the place where I stayed last night can provide a guided tour of the glacier. This sign seems to say that as an alternative you could hire your own snowmobile.
