 A weather station. I was right about the weather forecasts. The Icelandic Met Office website has very detailed forecasts of wind, precipitation and temperature for the whole country. It's even in English. It's also got some very comprehensive data about earthquakes. It appears that there's about one per hour somewhere in the island, although they are generally pretty small. I won't be getting into the seismic region for a few days yet.
