 The road zig-zagged down the hillside but with considerably longer straight sections than these. The effect of the wind was amazing. Going one way, I was cruising along in peace, using the brakes to keep my speed down to something sensible. Going the other, I was crawling down the hill, sometimes even having to pedal, with the wind roaring in my ears, hail sandblasting my face and a concern that my paniers were going to get broken off.
