 This hotel is quite a lot cheaper than any other in central Leipzig so, unusually, I read some reviews to make sure it wasn't terrible. They were generally pretty positive. The only complaints were the charge for Internet access, for which I have seen several figures quoted, none of which is extortionate, and the noise from some of the other guests. I don't really mind that; I like to be reminded that I'm somewhere interesting during the night. One of the reviews said that the receptionists weren't very helpful if you didn't speak German so I came in confidently speaking German from the start but they weren't having any of that. The woman who served me spoke very good English and was very friendly. There are a lot of cyclists staying here at the moment and she mainly wanted to know why everybody had such oily hands. This is my bright, spacious room. It's a bit funny that it's taller than it is wide. I imagine that when this was a sorting office, this whole floor would have been just a few huge rooms. The room seems ideally suited to my needs, especially when it comes to washing clothes. There's a device which allows several centimetres of water to build up in the bottom of the shower so that it can double as a washing area, plenty of towels, and a nice big window to let fresh air in for drying.
