 Geese in the village of Vakarel. Before the motorway was built, the road which I am using today would have been the main route between Bulgaria's largets cities, Sofia and Plovdiv. Most of it was in pretty good condition but the couple of kilometres starting about where this goose is were appaling. I had to go at a walking pace, meandering across the whole width of the road to try to avoid the worst holes. I didn't take a photograph because I was too depressed at the idea that the road might have been like that all the way to Plovdiv. I only saw two cars on that section, one of which was a group of Greeks who were lost and had to look at my map.
