I spent most of the morning wondering how it was that the road in the distance always looked like it was curving over the brow of a hill but never seemed to curve the other way. I couldn't understand how I could make so many downward curves without ending up going downhill. Eventually, I realised that that's the shape the Earth is. A slight change in the wind can have a much more significant effect on my ease of progress.
