On the left is the town of Alexander, with a population of about 80. On the right is the visitor centre. The information board doesn't say much but I welcomed the rather smart building containing toilets and a water fountain. I think I'm in a good mood now: I was happy to get inside where it was air-conditioned and then happy again to get back out into the warmth. It's interesting how the dates mentioned on information boards have become progressively more recent as I has moved west. In New Jersey, the towns dated from the 17th century. Around here, they were mostly created by the railway.

This town marks the end of the missing map. By a happy coincidence, I met an eastbound cyclist just a few minutes ago, the only one today. He asked about the rumours he had heard that route 96 was a better option than the ACA's recommended route. As I will have an ACA map from here on, I was able to give him my road map which marks route 96. He also said there was a good pizza place in Ness City. I wonder if I'll get there before it closes.
