 I'm making good progress now. I thought I would because the wind seemed to settle down to blowing from the south and for a few hours now I'm generally heading slightly north of west. It's lucky that the going is as easy as I had hoped because I rather recklessly booked a hotel in Ness City when I was 65 miles away in Great Bend, and said I would be there in less than five and a half hours. Without a tailwind, it would have been difficult to maintain the required speed when the air in he shade is at body temperature. Slightly worryingly, I had to book tonight's motel from a payphone as neither of my mobile phones could find a network which they could use. I knew that when the towns became widely-spaced, there would be regions between them with no phone coverage but Great Bend is a pretty major town.
