Sunflowers are the symbol of Kansas. I saw one, small but perfectly formed, growing by the roadside about 30 km before I entered the state. These are the first I've seen since. In the distance on the right is a 'nodding donkey' extracting oil from the ground. I've seen more of those around here than sunflowers.
